Dr. Frederick L Holmes is Senior Pastor of Emmanuel Community Church. He was a Theology Professor for 12 years at the Southern California School of ministry. He has had extensive church experience in Baptist, Pentecostal, and Word of Faith churches, as well as a church that did Bible exposition. Pastor Holmes is the holder of a Bachelors Degree in business, and was a manager with The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services for 11 years. He has a Masters Degree in ministry, and a Doctorate in ministry. His ministry has been influenced by the expositional teachings of Dr. J. Vernon Mc Gee, Dr. Billy G. Ingram, and Dr. John Mac Arthur, who was instrumental in helping shape the ministry of Emmanuel Community Church. Dr. Holmes has been active as a commencement speaker, a guest speaker at conferences such as Dayspring and Fellowship West, as well as Couples and Marriage Retreats. He has also served on the Board of Directors of both the Southern California School of Ministry and Fellowship West. Pastor Holmes’ approach to scripture is informative, motivating, refreshing, yet theologically sound.
Minister Gwendolyn L. Holmes is the First Lady of Emmanuel Community Church and wife of Dr. Frederick L. Holmes. She is the Supervising Minister, Director of Women's Ministries, and the Minister of Worship, Praise, and Special Music. As a licensed minister, she has been a featured speaker at Sunday morning services, women's conference, retreats and other events such as weekly Bible studies, both at her home church and at Partners Meetings at Primerica Financial Services. Additionally, she directed a successful 40 Days of Purpose Campaign at her church, and has taught courses at the annual CMTA ( Christian Ministries Training Association) Convention in Pasadena, California ( formerly called The Glass Convention). Topic presented have included Becoming Communicators of Hope, Being Better Lovers, Five Basics of Being a Healthy Christian, Restoration of an Unfaithful Lover, Testing for Success: Three Biblical Principles, and The Value of a friend in Trouble. Secular experience includes Staff Accountant, Credit Manager and Early Intervention Specialist serving children and families with disabilities. Education includes a Master of Divinity Degree from Talbot Theological Seminary, and a Bachelors in Business Administration from Pepperdine University.
Pastor and Minister Holmes live in Inglewood, California and are the parent of two adult children, Frederick and Nicole.
